Mentors and mentees visited local businesses, among them Sargent Metalworks where Scott Sargent showed us some current projects and Copeland Furniture Factory where Mike Kimber gave us a tour. After lunch at Colatina Exit we went to we finished our day with a visit to the Wooden House Company in Wells River. The focus was on learning about what’s in our communities, but also to start thinking about careers and preparing for a job.

Novelist Sydney Lea who was Vermont’s ‘s Poet Laureate from 2011 – 2015 paid homage to the mentors and shared stories of mentors from his somewhat troubled (according to him) adolescence. He told that they made a big difference in his life and he looks back on them fondly to this day.
