The Mentoring Project of the Upper Valley (TMPUV) is a community-based mentoring program matching young people with adult volunteers in and around Bradford, Newbury, Corinth and Fairlee, Vermont. TMPUV began in 2005 to address a need identified by an Oxbow High School committee of parents, students, educators, and business leaders.
We love support from the community! We often have group events, such as picnics and pizza parties, group volunteer events such as trail work in area forests and parks, and fundraising events such as car washes and concerts.
Part of mentorship is showing mentees the potential in area businesses for career opportunities, and discussing with them how to reach career goals. Companies that have invited us to visit include Hypertherm and Dartmouth Printing in Lebanon, NH.
Each mentor and mentee spend a minimum of 5 hours a month with one another. We make every effort to match volunteers and students based on common interests and similar personalities to help build an enjoyable and trusting relationship.
